My name is Katie Niemeyer, and I have a story to tell you.
Hearing it may help you save a life one day.

I am a medical professional, mother, philanthropist and entrepreneur who relentlessly encourages others to overcome obstacles and reach new goals. As a teen, I nearly died in a hospital burn unit in St. Louis, Mo., where I suffered from an adverse reaction to medication, a rare condition called Stevens Johnson Syndrome. I draw on my lifetime experiences as a parent, medical professional and SJS survivor to create new opportunities, fund groundbreaking medical research, and inspire people to cross their own finish lines.

In 2015, after winning a $10,000 grant from athletic apparel designer Under Armour, I donated its net proceeds to Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary at Harvard University, where researchers are passionate about developing new protocols and treatments for patients facing SJS.
